Soft Water Phoenix is a free referral service. Tell us what your water is doing, and we connect you with an independent local water treatment company that tests, quotes and does the work.
How this works
You use the sizing tool or the contact form. We show you the arithmetic and a typical price range, then pass your request to an independent water treatment company serving your part of the Valley. They contact you, test your water, give you a written quote and book the work. From there you deal with them directly: they do the work, you pay them, and they are responsible for it.
What we are, and what we are not
We are a referral service, not a water treatment company. We do not install, service or sell equipment, and we do not hold a contractor licence or insurance ourselves. The company you are connected with may pay us a fee for the introduction. Using this site costs you nothing, and you are under no obligation to buy anything.
If we cannot find a company that can help with your situation, we will tell you plainly instead of leaving you waiting.
Why this site is built the boring way
Water treatment has a bad reputation in this valley, and it was earned: scare tactics at the door, free tests that always find a catastrophe, and equipment sized to the commission rather than the household. This site tries to arm you against that.
- The numbers come from the city, and we link them. Our hardness figures are quoted from the City of Phoenix 2025 Water Quality Report, with the link, so you can check us.
- We say what hardness is not. The same report calls it an aesthetic issue, not a health one. We repeat that even though the opposite would sell more equipment.
- The sizing arithmetic is shown. You can do it yourself on the back of an envelope, and you should.
- Sometimes the answer is a service call. A salt bridge or a badly set valve looks exactly like a dead softener and costs a fraction to fix.
Licensing and insurance: ask for proof
In Arizona, jobs over $1,000, or any job that needs a permit, generally require a Registrar of Contractors (ROC) licence, and softener installs often cross that line. Ask the company for its ROC licence number and check it on the ROC website, and ask for proof of insurance before anyone works on your plumbing.
What a good installer will not do
Knock on your door. Run a “free test” designed to alarm you. Quote a price before seeing the plumbing. Sell a conditioner to someone whose complaint is that soap will not lather, or a softener to someone whose complaint is how the water tastes.
